Weekend Travel Guide: Aspen, CO

Aspen is one of my favorite weekend getaways. It's about a 3 hour drive from Denver so we like to drive up in the "off season" because it's pretty much a ghost town so there are no crowds or lines and we can wander freely and eat at all of our fave places without any waits!

If you're planning a trip out there I thought I'd share a few of our favorite things to do!

Where to Stay:

We love the Mountain Chalet. It's a cute and quaint family run lodge. It's affordable, and it's in the center of the city square! They offer an amazing hot breakfast and there is a 24 hour cookie and hot cocoa station in the lobby!

When we have Sully with us we usually book a room at Hotel Aspen because they're dog friendly. It's also incredible central and affordable and they have a complimentary breakfast and a nice heated outdoor pool & hot tub!

Where to Eat:

You NEED to eat at Meat & Cheese at least twice during your stay. It's always incredible. Our faves off the menu are the Rotisserie Chicken Board and obvs the Meat & Cheese Plate. We also love CP Burgers & White House Tavern.

What to do:

There are really only two things you can do in Aspen during the off season.

Hike and Shop.

For hiking we highly recommend the Maroon Bells. It's one of our absolute favorite sights in all of Colorado and it's a relatively easy hike. As far as shopping goes, Aspen is more of a window shopping town in my opinion. By that I mean I can't afford anything in any of the stores but it's always fun to look!
