Travel Recap: The Big Island, Hawaii

The hubs and I had the opportunity to travel to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, otherwise known as The Big Island. Joey had a job out there and Ella and I tagged along because Why not!? Although traveling with a one year old is not necessarily easy it was 100% worth the effort. The first day was a little rough as we were jet lagged and Ella had a hard time adjusting to the time change, although our Dock-a-tot really helped Ella adjust. The rest of the time was pretty much a breeze! While we did spend some time doing regular touristy things like hiking up to Akaka Falls and going to the Volcano National Park, we spent most of our trip just hanging out on the beach (Hapuna Beach was our fave!) and exploring the local cuisines! Some of our faves were Kona Brew Pub, and Fish Hopper. One of my favorite parts of the trip was getting to know the locals. They are some of the kindest most welcoming people I have ever come across!

Anyways, when packing for a trip - especially a beach trip, I try to be a minimalist as possible. I brought a pair of Levis shorts, a pair of versatile but comfortable sandals, some flowy tops and simple casual accessories that will go with everything and not weigh me down on the more adventurous days. I'm really glad I brought my JORD wood watch because it's unique and cool and I was able to wear it everyday with every outfit. It's so lightweight and it adds just a touch of sophistication without making me look overdone.
